Adrian W. Gaskins Obituary (1944

Adrian William Gaskins was the only child born to William and Marion Ida (Wright) Gaskins on September 2, 1944, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and passed away on Friday, November 2, 2012, at Crestview Care Center, Milford, Nebraska at the age of 68 years and 2 months. Adrian's parents were hard workers. His father, William, worked at a paper company and his mother, Marion, was a factory worker in Philadelphia. Adrian had a close relationship with his mother, Marion, whom he loved very much. Adrian's father, William, passed away in 1971. Adrian graduated from a Philadelphia High School and attended colleges in Philadelphia, taking several correspondence courses. Adrian moved to Lincoln, Nebraska approximately 30 years ago and lived at the Lincoln City Mission and spent a lot of his time at the Matt Talbot Kitchen Outreach Center, being part of the homeless community. It was at these 2 places that Adrian met a lot of friends and considered them his family. Adrian also spent a lot of time walking the UNL campus and doing his work-study and research at the Campus Library. Adrian enjoyed reading educational books, keeping research journals and operating his Ham Radio and scanner. He also loved photography and searching the web on his laptop computer. Adrian came to live at Crestview Care Center in Milford on December 17, 2010. Adrian made a life for himself at Crestview by volunteering his time in activities, delivering the mail and helping out the kitchen staff. Adrian enjoyed spending time with his Crestview friends and staff by going on outings and attending group activities and helping out where ever he could. Adrian was of the Baptist faith and participated in the facility religious activities. Survivors include his mother, Marion Gaskins, age 97, of Philadelphia; an aunt, Alfreida Hines, 95, also of Philadelphia, and 3 cousins from Charlotte North Carolina, San Francisco and Philadelphia. Adrian was cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date at Crestview Care Center in Milford. His burial will be in Pennsylvania.
