Anne Roth

In Memory ofAnne Roth Anne Roth, was born December 1, 1934, in Florence, South Carolina to Henry and Ruth (Jones) Davis, the 7th child of nine children and passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, December 27, 2008, at the Friend Manor in Friend at the age of 74 years and 26 days. As a young girl she attended school and graduated with the class of 1953 from Florence Public Schools. She met the love of her life Lawrence "Lee" Roth while he was serving in the Army and they were united in marriage on April 14, 1955 in Florence. To this union four children Janet, Lori, Jerry and Renee were born. Together they made their home in Myrtle Beach, SC, Milford and Seward, NE before moving to Friend in 1960. Anne was a busy homemaker raising her children and helping Lee in his body shop. After Lee's ill health she began to work full time at Alpo in Crete and later Johnson Pharmacy and Eberhardt Liquor Store in Friend. For a short time, Anne and Lee moved to Barrow, Alaska. Returning to Nebraska she became an employee of Warren Memorial Hospital where she was employed for the last 13 years, working as a dietary aid through October of 2008. During this time, Anne received the 2007 Caring Kind Award from Warren Memorial Hospital. She was a member of the United Church of Christ and the American Legion Auxiliary both of Friend. Anne enjoyed working on many church activities and also helped with church services at the manor. She was a kind caring person hospitable to all, always compassionate, very humble and a very good hostess. Anne was a fantastic cook, and enjoyed cooking the various wildlife that Lee brought home. Great family "fish fries" and grilling steaks were enjoyed by all. She loved to garden, canning the produce and sharing with her family who were the light of life. Anne enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and especially her new great-grandson, Braylon. Anne is survived by her children and spouses, Janet and Roger Miller, Exeter, Lori and Rick Sheehan, Friend, Jerry and Carrie Roth, Lincoln, Renee Roth, Las Vegas, NV, five grandchildren, Trevor and Chelsea Roth, both of Lincoln, Rachel, David and Sarah Ann Sheehan, one great-grandson, Braylon Marschman, brother and sister-in-law, Billy and Judith Davis, Social Circle, GA, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Anne was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Ruth Davis, her husband Lee, five brothers, Henry Sayer, William W., Robert W., Joseph Hugo and Warren Davis, two sisters, Marion Jean Culberson-Hill and Willie Mae Davis, A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, December 30, 2008, at United Church of Christ with Revs. Tim and Ginny Adams officiating.
