Charles W. Miller

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 2, 2016, at Lauber-Moore Funeral Home, Friend with Pastor George Robie officiating. Visitation will be from 1-8 pm Friday, at Lauber-Moore Funeral Home, Friend, until service time Saturday. Interment will be in the Beaver Crossing Cemetery. Memorials have been established to the American Diabetes Association. Pallbearers are Derek Miller, Kent Fickel, Les Rawlings, Gary Hendrix, David Cast, and Adam Hohman.

Charles Wesley Miller was born August 6, 1926 to Silas J. and Christine V. (Anderson) Miller on a farm southwest of Milford, Nebraska and passed away on Thursday, June 30, 2016, at Ridgewood Care Center in Seward at the age of 89. As a young boy, he attended country school near Milford through the 8th grade. Charles helped his father and farmed in the Milford area for two years prior to his marriage to Mildred Albrecht on August 15, 1948. To this marriage a daughter, Connie and two sons, Tim and Tom were born.

Charles continued to farm until his retirement in 1991. They lived all of their married life on the Albrecht family farm northwest of Beaver Crossing before moving into town in 1999. In 1997, a tragic car accident took the life of his son, Tom, and Charles spent the rest of his life in a nursing home as a result of injuries from the accident. After retiring and prior to the accident, Charles continued to assist Tim and Tom with farming activities and raising cattle.

In his spare time, Charles enjoyed golfing and playing cards during the winter months.

He is survived by his wife, Mildred, Seward, his son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Cheri Miller, Beaver Crossing, grandchildren, Kimberly Rivas, Derek and Coral Miller, all of Seward, son-in-law, Les Rawlings, St. Paul, NE, sisters and brother-in-law, Marian and Bill Owen, Omaha, Doris Liakas, Denver, CO, brothers, John and Lois Miller, Safety Harbor, FL, Lonnie Miller, Lincoln, brother-in-law, Bill Larsen, Denver, CO, sister-in-law, Donna Miller, Lincoln, numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Connie in 1987, son, Tom, in 1997, sister, Arlene Larsen, brother, Donald Miller, brothers-in-law, Tom Liakas and John Albrecht, six half-sisters and three half-brothers.
