In Loving Memory Of Clyde D. Newton A celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at St Mark's Lutheran Church, Bloomfield, NE with pastor Tim Koester officiating. Interment with military services by the American Legion will be at Bloomfield Cemetery. Memorials have been established to the St Mark's Lutheran Church. Clyde David Newton, of Milford, formerly of Bloomfield, was born July 29, 1923, in Bloomfield, Nebraska to Roy and Henrietta (Busskohl) Newton, the oldest of 7 children and passed away Saturday, August 8, 2015, at Memorial Hospital in Seward, Nebraska at the age of 92 years and 10 days. Clyde attended Bloomfield Public Schools and was active in many sports and was an excellent baseball pitcher. He enlisted into the US Navy in 1944 during World War II and was honorably discharged in 1946. Clyde met the love of his life, Betty Gerdau, and was united in marriage on October 31, 1942 in Dakota City, Nebraska. To this union a daughter, Barbara, and sons, Michael, Terry and Kelly were born. In his spare time, Clyde enjoyed fishing, hunting and was an avid sports fan. His grandchildren were very special in his life. He was a life-long member of the Bloomfield American Legion. Clyde left behind to celebrate his life his daughter, Barb Wisch and husband Don, Omaha, Terry Newton and his wife Bev, Lincoln, Kelly Newton and his wife Carol, Milford, 7 grandchildren, several great and one great-great-grandson, brothers and sisters-in-law, Bernie and Eileen Newton, Lincoln, Bob and Carol Newton, Detroit, MI, Jerry and Brenda Newton, Belle Vista, AR, sister, June Hanson, also of Belle Vista, sisters-in-law, Dorothy Newton, Polson, MT, Ruth Newton, also of Belle Vista, AR, a special friend, Linda Geiken, Sioux Falls, SD, many other nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends including all of his neighbors and friends at Linden Village in Milford. Clyde was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 66 years, Betty, in 2009, his son, Michael in July, and brothers, John and Lyle Newton.
