Darrel D. Yeackley Obituary (1926

In Loving Memory OfDarrel D. YeackleyDarrel D. Yeackley was the 2nd of five children born to George and Alice (Hershberger) Yeackley on May 29, 1926 and went to be with his Lord on Sunday, January 13, 2008 at the age of 81 years, 7 months and 15 days. As a young boy he accepted Christ as his personal Saviour at East Fairview Mennonite Church and was a faithful and serving member until his death. He attended country school near Milford and helped his father farm, also working for Beckler's Implement until his marriage. He was united in marriage to Naomi Riley on September 24, 1950 at East Fairview. To this union seven children, Eric, Carmen, Pamela, Kevin, Jody, Anita, and Jacqueline were born.Together they made their home on a farm near Milford before moving to the Beaver Crossing area where they lived for 13 years. They then returned to the family farm west of Milford where he farmed and also operated a dairy. The most important thing in Darrel's life was his family and his faith. He thoroughly enjoyed all family gatherings and was a peacemaker to many. Darrel always encouraged others to look for the positive and had a wonderful sense of humor. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Over the years he enjoyed mechanics and working on equipment. Darrel is survived by his wife of 57 years, Naomi, son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Karmin Yeackley, daughters and sons-in-law, Carmen and Bill Saltzman, Pamela and Lynn Saltzman, Jody and Randy Schweitzer, Anita and Delton Stauffer, and Jackie and Wes Roth, all of Milford, 20 grandchildren and spouses, Craig and Marneta Saltzman, Chad and Jewel Saltzman, Jessica and Jeremy Yoder, Jathan and Sonya Saltzman, Melissa Saltzman, Mick Saltzman, Roxanne and Lonnie Miller, Dustin Yeackley, Kassidy Yeackley, Joshua and Kylie Schweitzer, Jade and Serena Schweitzer, Jayla Schweitzer and fianc? Nate Anderson, Daron Stauffer, Austin Stauffer, Abbie Stauffer, Alexa Stauffer, Megan Roth, Levi Roth, Colten Roth, Ethan Roth, 9 great-grandchildren, sister, Mary Jane Stutzman, Milford, brother, Karl Yeackley, Lincoln, sisters-in-law, Ethel Yeackley, Milford, Dorla Yeackley Hershberger, Hesston, KS, step-sister, Donna Cook Pearson, Thedford, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Walt and Jane Riley, Seward, Larry and Betty Springer, Milford, Elva Reil, Lois Riley, all of Milford, numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a step-mother, Verda Yeackley, his son, Eric Dean, brothers, Willis and Archie, sister-in-law, Betty Yeackley, brothers-in-law, Walter Stutzman, Ivan CookA Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at East Fairview Mennonite Church, rural Milford with Revs. Anthony Troyer and Tim Springer officiating. Interment in the church cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from noon ? 5 pm at Lauber-Moore Funeral Home with the family receiving relatives and friends from 6-8 pm Tuesday at Milford Mennonite Church. Memorials have been established and may be directed in care of the family. Pallbearers are C raig and Mick Saltzman, Dustin Yeackley, Josh Schweitzer, Daron Stauffer and Levi Roth. Honorary Pallbearers are Chad and Jathan Saltzman, Jade Schweitzer, Austin Stauffer, Colten and Ethan Roth.
