Duane Willard Zastrow Obituary (1958

In Memory OfDUANE W. "PEANUTS" ZASTROWDuane Willard "Peanuts" Zastrow, of Cordova, died suddenly, Friday, October 29, 2004, near Exeter at the age of 46 years, 4 months and 24 days. He was born June 5, 1958 in Friend, to Willard and Lorraine (Sternberg) Zastrow, the oldest of two children. As a young boy he attended Cordova Public School and later graduated from Friend High School with the Class of 1976. When he was 16 he began his truck driving career with his first drivers license, driving part-time for S & A Trucking. Peanuts also worked for a time at Cordova Cooperative.After his 21st birthday he began driving full time for Noler Trucking and currently was employed at Dorchester Cooperative. In his spare time or during vacations, he would look up others who needed help with various farming chores or driving a truck. He loved kids and often babysat with the children of friends. Another hobby including participating in tractor pulls around the area with his good friend Kevin Spicka. Peanuts was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Cordova, the Cordova Volunteer Fire Department, serving the department in many ways including Fire Chief. He also was a member of the Nebraska Bush Puller's AssociationHe is survived by his parents, Willard and Lorraine Zastrow, brother, Brian Zastrow, also of Cordova, aunts and uncles, Leroy and Carol Sternberg, Cordova, Shirley and J.D. Reeder, Imperial, Robert Zastrow, Lincoln, Mildred Wiemer, Seward, cousins, and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, three uncles, Lloyd and Elmer Sternberg, Raymond WiemerA Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 1, 2004, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Cordova with Rev. Arnold Jurchen officiating. Interment will be in Zastrow Cemetery, Cordova. Visitation is from 2 ? 9 pm Sunday at Lauber-Moore Funeral Home, Friend, and one hour before services at the Church. Memorials have been established and are directed in care of the family. Pallbearers are Russell Sternberg, Jim Nordmeyer, Randy Zastrow, Tracy Zastrow, Vernon Wiemer, Verle Wiemer. The organist Velma Lutz accompanied the congregation as they sang "Amazing Grace" and "How Great Thou Art"
