F. Dale Hostetler Obituary (1924

In Loving Memory ofF. Dale HostetlerF. Dale Hostetler was born August 25, 1924, on a farm southeast of Beaver Crossing, Nebraska to Ivan and Emma (Burkey) Hostetler, the 3rd of 8 children, and passed away suddenly Saturday, November 14, 2009, at his home at the age of 85 years, 2 months and 20 days. F. Dale attended District #80 Country School through the eighth grade and afterwards helped his father farm. He accepted Christ as his personal savior and was baptized at West Fairview Mennonite Church where he became a faithful member and pastor. On February 8, 1944, he was united in marriage to Vivien V. Schweitzer in Broken Bow, Nebraska and to this union four children were born, Lynn, Bruce, Mark and Coleen. F. Dale farmed his entire life, and enjoyed raising cattle and horses. He also was an ordained minister for over 30 years, serving as pastor at West Fairview Mennonite Church. F. Dale cared deeply about his faith, his family and his friends. His compassion extended to his community and to the animals in his care. Survivors include his wife, Vivien, Milford; sons and daughters-in-law, Lynn and Patricia Hostetler, Columbia, MO, Bruce and Cheryl Hostetler, Hesston, KS, Mark Hostetler, North Platte, NE; daughter and son-in-law, Coleen and Dean Cross Milford; seven grandchildren and spouses, Pia Capell, Columbia, MO, Lezlie and Nat Patton, Milford, Cydney and Kevin Eshleman, Los Gatos, CA, Luke and Crystal Hostetler, Lincoln, Zachary Cross, Jordan and Heather Cross, Joshua Cross, all of Milford; five great-grandchildren; Adison and Griffin Capell, Katie and Jake Patton, Brooke Eshleman, brothers and sister-in-law, Larry and Alice Hostetler, Nampa, ID, LaVoy Hostetler, Denver, CO, sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Schweitzer, British Columbia, Canada, Nadene and Wilbur Troyer, Nampa, ID, Leora and Clinton Gingerich, Phoenix, AZ, and Ellen and Stan Mishler, of McMinville, OR; brother-in-law, Leland Shetler, Mountain Home, ID, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Margie and Marlin Burkey, Seward, nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends. F. Dale was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Lucille Shetler, brother-in-law, Royden Schweitzer, and a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Doris and Blaine Brt. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 17, at West Fairview Mennonite Church, rural Beaver Crossing, with Pastor David Burkey, officiating. Interment is in the church cemetery. Visitation is from 2 to 8 pm Monday at Lauber-Moore Funeral Home, with family receiving friends and relatives from 6 to 8pm. Viewing also 1 hour prior to services at church. Memorials have been established to the West Fairview Mennonite Church or Missions.
