Fern Cooper Obituary (1912

Fern Cooper, 98, (widow of Barton, Sr.) of Tyler, Texas, formerly of Milford, passed away Saturday, May 21, 2011 at Hospice of East Texas in Tyler. She was born July 18, 1912, in Greenwood, Nebraska to Frank and Blanche Lee. Mrs. Cooper was a member of the Methodist church in Milford for 50 years, and was active with the United Methodist Women. Fern also was a member of the United Farm Organization, and the Nebraska Grange. She loved her birds and farm animals, gardening, canning, cooking, dancing, and sewing. She was a fabulous seamstress and a great dancer. She deeply enjoyed time spent with her loving family. Mrs. Cooper lived her last two years at Garden Estate Retirement Home, where she had lots of friends, and you could hear her laughter throughout the hallway and dining room. Everyone knew and loved Fern. Mrs. Cooper was preceded in death by her husband, Barton Cooper Sr.; daughter, Marita Cooper; sister, Pauline Lee; brothers, Wayne Lee and Francis Lee, daughter-in-law, Janice Cooper, and a brother-in-law, Ray Kalvelage. Fern is survived by her loving family including two sons and daughters-in-law, Barton and Regina Cooper, Tyler, TX, and Gary and Donna Cooper; Milford, four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, sister, Maxine Kalvelage, brother, Philip Lee. Graveside Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 4, 2011, at Blue Mound Cemetery, Milford, with Pastor Michael Curd officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association. Lauber-Moore Funeral Home, Milford, is entrusted with the local arrangements.
