G. Marie Dahle Obituary (1922

In Loving Memory OfG. Marie Dahle G. Marie Dahle, of Milford, was born on November 6, 1922 at Shenandoah, Iowa to Russell and Bertha (Varley) Teachout, the 2nd of four children and died Saturday, September 08, 2007, at Sunrise Country Manor in Milford at the age of 84 years 10 months and 2 days. As a young girl she attended Prospect Hill Country School and later graduated from Shenandoah High School with the Class of 1940. Marie was very involved in 4-H activities in Iowa and enjoyed playing the violin in the high school orchestra. She furthered her education at Iowa State University in Ames where she met Kenneth R. Dahle and they were united in marriage on July 28, 1946 in Shenandoah, Iowa. They were blessed with a daughter, Kathy and a son, David. Briefly they lived in Omaha before moving to Milford in 1947 where they owned and operated "Klay Kraft Pottery" and in the fall of 1964 they moved near the I-80 Milford interchange where they owned and operated "Dahle's 66" and built the covered wagon. They also operated a tourist business for many years. Marie, along with being a busy mother, helped in many ways, especially keeping books for their businesses. Marie was a member of the Milford United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. In her spare time she enjoyed working crossword puzzles and loved working out of doors in her garden raising flowers. Marie especially loved her grandchildren and they were very important to her. She spent many hours and days attending and watching them participate in their activities. They brought much joy to her life even when she began to loose her eyesight and a verbal description was all she had, she still enjoyed being with her family. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Richard Olson, Stromsburg, son and daughter-in-law, David and Caroline Dahle, Milford, six grandchildren, Jordan, Coleman and Caleb Dahle, Adam, Alissa, and Arik Olson, sister and brother-in-law, Iris and Dale Morrison, Shenandoah, IA, sister-in-law, June Teachout, Shenandoah, IA, nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Marie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Kenneth in 1993, brothers, Richard and Kenneth Teachout, nephews, Doug Teachout and Randy Morrison, and niece, Susie Schaaf, brother-in-law, Don Dahle, parents-in-law, Gerhard and Helen Dahle. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 11, 2007 at the Milford United Methodist Church with Rev. Michael Curd officiating. Interment in Blue Mound Cemetery, Milford.
