A Celebration of Gail's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 1, 2017, at Lauber-Moore Funeral Home, Friend, Nebraska, with Chaplain Mark Hartley officiating. A time of food and fellowship will follow the services at the Friend United Methodist Church. A private committal of her ashes will be held at a later date by her family. Honorary Pallbearers are Alex and Joe Kohout and Marty Roth. Memorials are directed to the family in care of Lauber-Moore Funeral Home, Friend.

Gail Ann Kohout was born November 8, 1949 in Seward, Nebraska to Elmer and Lovella (Garrett) Kohout, the youngest of three children and passed away Friday, March 17, 2017, at her home near Beaver Crossing at the age of 67.As a young girl, Gail attended grade school in Beaver Crossing and graduated with the last class from Beaver Crossing in 1967. She furthered her education by attending Nursing School at Lincoln General receiving her Registered Nurses designation in 1973.After receiving her degree, she worked in hospitals in California and Nebraska including the University Hospital, Pacific Nursing Services, and Kelly Assisted Living, all in San Diego, Elcajon Valley Hospital and Scripps East, both in ELcajon, CA, and health care services in Nebraska. Gail retired from nursing as an RN, after 40+ years of providing loving care to her patients, having worked as an agency nurse for the Nebraska Department of Corrections.Gail was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening, and always had a pet companion by her side. She is survived by her son, Alex Kohout, Beaver Crossing, her brother, Joe Kohout, Wofford Heights, CA, special friends, Michelle "Shellie" Chapman, Lincoln, Carol "CC" Vince, San Diego, CA, Joyce Coogan, Omaha, Mary T. Chirnside, Lincoln, god-daughter, Katie (Vince) Jennings, San Diego, CA, and other relatives and friends.She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Lovella Kohout, and a brother, Bruce Kohout.
