Hugo Thomas Obituary (1928

Graveside Services will be 10:30 am Friday, August 22, 2014, at Pleasant Dale Cemetery with Rev. David Brinkmeyer officiating. Visitation is Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Lauber-Moore Home, Milford. Pallbearers are: Stan, Clint, Jon, Doug, Cory and Myron Thomas. Memorials by be directed in care of the family. Hugo Thomas was born August 27, 1928, near Pleasant Dale, Nebraska, the only child born to William and Emma (Ficken) Thomas and passed away on Saturday, August 16, 2014 at Bryan West Medical Center in Lincoln at the age of 90. As a young boy, Hugo attended District #64 Country School and helped his father and uncles farm in Seward County, later leaving farming and working as a mechanic for Nobbman Garage in Emerald for several years. He retired from Seward County after running a county road maintainer for many years. He was united in marriage to Mildred Schwab in Pleasant Dale on October 4, 1969. In his earlier years, Hugo loved hunting ducks and pheasants and played a lot of baseball. Hugo was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Pleasant Dale. Survivors include his step son, Kevin Schwab, Garland, three step grandchildren, Stacey and Rod Canby, Ami Schwab, Ryan and Nicole Schwab, step great-grandchildren, Tianna Schwab, Trenton Canby, Tala Canby, Kaytlin Schwab, Tiara Schwab, Jacob Schwab, Shelly Hunt and Elzya Underwood, a great-great-grandson, Mason Lewis, and cousins, Stan and Rosemary Thomas, Milford, Clint Thomas of Pleasant Dale, Jean Becker, Surprise, AZ, Viola and Herb Thies, San Diego, CA, and Dorothy and Glenn Johnson, of Omaha, other distant cousins and relatives. Hugo was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mildred in 2003, and a step son, Gary Schwab.
