John C. Kyker Ii Obituary (1940

A funeral will be held graveside at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 4, 2017, at Fairmont Public Cemetery, Fairmont with Pastor Lyle K. Schoen officiating. Visitation will be Saturday 10-Noon at Lauber-Moore Funeral Home, Friend. Memorials may be directed in care of the family. Pallbearers are: Calvin Kyker, Nigel Hayes, John Hayes, Dustin Hayes, Brandon Evans and Travis Myers. John Calvin Kyker II, was born July 8, 1940, in Fairbury, Nebraska to John and Louise (Hautzenroder) Kyker, the oldest of three children and went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, February 28, 2017, at The Monarch in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 76. As a young boy, John attended several schools in Nebraska and Oregon and later graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1958. John managed "The Lincoln" Movie Theatre in Lincoln and also "The Cooper Theatre" in Pueblo, CO where he dared Ethel Donahue to go on a date. They were married on December 29, 1960. To this union a daughter, Mary, and a son, David were born. Together they resided in Lincoln, NE, Des Moines, IA and Green Bay, WI where he was employed with Pitney Bowes for over 30 years. It was here where he was noted as being one of the most successful salesman and received dozens of awards. John was very faithful to his Lord and was actively involved with his church, The Wesleyan Church and later the Free Methodist Church. John had a great sense of humor and loved playing monopoly, eating popcorn and drinking root beer with his friends. Survivors include his wife, Ethel, Lincoln, daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Alan Phillips, Carlisle, IA, David and Justine Kyker, Lincoln, five grandchildren and spouses, Calvin Kyker, Lincoln, Regan and Lane Chasek, also both of Lincoln, Ariana and Doug Beach, New Virginia, IA, Ashley Phillips and fiance, Travis Myers, Lacona, IA, and Amanda McBurney and fiance, Brandon Evans, both of New Virginia, IA; 13 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. John was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Joyce Hammer and Judy Hosack. Cemetery is located just south of town.
