In Loving Memory Of Jonathon "Jon" Joseph Ryan A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a. m. on Thursday, August 27, 2015 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Cordova with Rev. Brian Tuma officiating. Jon's family requests that those who purchased a "Jon Ryan" t-shirt, please wear them to the funeral. Burial will be at a later date at Andrew Cemetery, Friend. Visitation will be on Wednesday, 11am - 9 pm at Lauber-Moore Funeral Home, Friend with the family receiving relatives and friends from 6-8 pm at the funeral home. Memorials have been established and in lieu of flowers, may be directed in care of the family. Jonathon "Jon" Joseph Ryan, of Friend, was born at Owatonna, Minnesota on October 15, 1963 to James and Sharon (Chladek) Ryan, the fourth of five children and went to fly with the heavenly angels on Sunday, August 23, 2015, surrounded by his family at the age of 51 years, 10 months and 8 days. Jon graduated from Friend High School with the class of 1981. He furthered his education at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and enlisted in the US Army at Christmas break. The Army sent him to art school in Colorado to learn graphic design. After being discharged from the Army, Jon went to work at GTE in Washington, DC working for classified Satellite Intelligence. He left DC to bicycle home in 1988 to find his wife, Phyllis, and on October 20, 1990, he was united in marriage to Phyllis Jean Schwisow. To this union four daughters, Courtney Mae, twins, Ashley Evelyn and Brandey Jean, and Christina McKenzie were born. Jon became a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Cordova and served his church and church family in many ways. Jon joined his parents in the family businesses, Friend Sentinel, Pioneer Publishing and Dynamic Impressions. While with Dynamic Impressions, Jon was responsible for providing graphic designs for zoos, aquariums, Ringling Brothers Circus and the Siegfried and Roy shows in Las Vegas. Jon handled many of the graphic elements in other areas of the business and wrote a weekly column, "A View from the Alley" for the newspaper. Jon eventually helped with the sale of those businesses and moved on to work with GPS at Brothers Equipment until his diagnosis of Multiple Myeloma in March of 2001. From that point on Jon was the best stay at home father, husband and uncle that any girl could ever want. He was also the most faithful, inspirational, patient, hardworking, caring, strong and loving man to anyone who crossed his path during his life. Jon forever shared his faith with everyone around him. Jon is survived by his wife of 24 years, Phyllis, children, Courtney, Ashley, Brandey, Christina, Kaitlin, Kristin, Dominic (wingman for Jon), beloved cats Oliver and Joey, parents, Jim and Sharon Ryan, brothers and spouses, Steve and Carla, Paul and Valerie, Pat and Kirby, Jeff and Tori; mother-in-law, Rosie Schwisow, sister-in-law, Susan Schwarte; brother-in-law, Rick Schwisow, nieces and nephews, Kim and Lucas, Nicholas and Ariel, Matthew, Miles, Donna, Adam and Emily, Brody, Brooke, Abby, David, Michael, Hannah and Jonathan, aunts, uncles, cousins and many, many friends. He was preceded in death by grandparents, father-in-law, Willis Schwisow, uncle, Michael Ryan, aunt, Judy Ryan.
