Laverna Hickman

LaVerna Hickman was born April 1, 1924, on a farm near Seward, Nebraska to Irving & Blanche (Gaskill) Hickman, and passed away Sunday, April 11, 2010, at Sunrise Country Manor near Milford at the age of 86 years and 10 days. LaVerna lived on the family farm near Seward and later moved to Beatrice. LaVerna's condition came to a point where she was admitted to the Beatrice State Developmental Center where she resided until 1971, when she arrived at the Sunrise Country Manor. She enjoyed her companionship with her sister, Maxine, who also resided there until her death in February of 2000. Survivors include her sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and Bernie Novak, Milford; a brother and sister-in-law, Elden & Diane Hickman of Ann Arbor, Michigan. LaVerna was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Dorothy Layman, Leona Cook, Maxine Hickman and her brothers, Don, Kenneth and Gerald Hickman.
