Leola "Lee" M Eberspacher Obituary (1932

In Loving Memory Of Leola M. Eberspacher Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 31, 2015, at Beth-El Mennonite Church, Milford. Family interment prior to service, Salem Cemetery. Leola Mae (Dahlgren) Eberspacher was a beloved wife, mother, friend, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose love and encouragement extended to anyone she met. While she'll be missed by family and friends, they're rejoicing in the knowledge that Lee is fully alive with her Lord and Savior. Despite Lee's faded memory during her last few years of life, those foggy days don't diminish her purposeful life that was dedicated to serving her family, friends and the Lord. She'd be the first to say that her life story matters not because she did anything extraordinary, but because she served a faithful God who is faithful to his children. Born in Wakefield, Nebraska, on May 23, 1932, Leola was the daughter of Levi and Ada Dahlgren and sister to Elaine. Leola grew up in the Wakefield community and graduated from high school in 1950. She went on to attend Luther Junior College in Wahoo, Nebraska, as well as Wayne State College in Wayne, Nebraska. After receiving her degree, Lee taught school in Ord and Omaha before spending time as a parish worker and church assistant in Wisconsin and Minnesota. Up until this time, Lee had never married or had children of her own. She was a beloved aunt to her five nieces who admired and respected their adventurous 'Aunt Leola.' In 1969 Lee began writing letters to a widowed farmer from Milford, Nebraska. She and Don married later that year and Lee became an instant farm wife and mother to Don's five children. She fell into the rhythm of harvesting, taking meals to the field, raising the family with Truth and becoming part of the Milford community. As the children grew older and Lee and Don entered into semiretirement they took time to travel together, visiting Israel, China, Costa Rica, Europe and the Philippines. They also hosted two foreign exchange students in their home who they stayed in close contact with through the years. During these slower years, Lee recalled having quiet time each morning with Don. The two would pray over their friends and family, entrusting their lives to God at the start of each new day. While it's easy for her grandchildren to remember grandma Lee for her Velveeta eggs, tuna noodle casserole and the stash of peanut butter cookies, it's her deep devotion to the Lord and others that serves as her greatest and most cherished legacy. Lee was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Don, sister and brother-in-law, Elaine and Robert Turnquist. She's survived by her children and their spouses, Cathy and Fred Schlegel, Lincoln, Sandy and Jon Oswald, Lincoln, Diane and Ivan Anchan, Omaha, Kim and Sheila Eberspacher, Milford, Lori and Mark Moline, Shoreview, MN, 15 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dean and Marilyn Eberspacher, Darrel and Carol Eberspacher, all of Milford, Jim Eberspacher, Seward, nieces, Mary, Ruth, Janet, Karla, and Beth, and nephews.
