In Memory OfLeona M. SullivanLeona May Sullivan, of Pleasant Dale, died Sunday, September 28, 2003, at BryanLGH East Medical Center in Lincoln at the age of 84 years 10 months and 14 days. She was born a farm southeast of Pleasant Dale in Lancaster County, Nebraska on November 14, 1918 to Daniel Israel and Hattie Elizabeth (Stern) Allen, the oldest of two. As a young girl, Leona attended Pleasant Dale Public Schools and graduated with the class of 1939. She later was united in marriage to William Stanley Sullivan on June 22, 1942 at Fremont, Nebraska and to this union two sons, Richard and Daniel were born.In her early years, Leona was employed at Bryan and Lincoln General Hospitals and retired from the housekeeping department of the Lincoln Regional Center. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women in Pleasant Dale and taught Sunday School for 23 years. Leona is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, Daniel Sullivan, Milford and Richard and Hally Sullivan, Lincoln, two grandchildren, Mike Sullivan & wife Angie and Karyn Sullivan, all of Lincoln, four great-grandchildren, Craig & Derek Janssen, Lincoln, Elli & Matt Sullivan, all of Lincoln. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Bill on May 7, 2001, brother, Leonard Allen and a sister-in-law, Viola Allen.A Graveside Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 1, 2003, at the Pleasant Dale Cemetery with Pastor Rod Lyon officiating. Due to her son Richard?s recent stroke, a memorial service will be held at a later date at Pleasant Dale United Methodist Church. Visitation is from noon to 9 pm Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials have been established to the United Methodist Church, Pleasant Dale, or Crestview Care Center, Milford. Lauber-Moore Funeral Home, Milford, is in charge of arrangements.
