Lillian Maureen Eicher Beckler was born March 20, 1928 to Fred and Agnes (Bender) Stutzman on a farm west of Milford and passed away peacefully, Sunday, August 7, 2016, at the Eastmont Tower Community in Lincoln at the age of 88 years, 4 months and 18 days. She attended District 73 Stauffer School, a two-room country school, west of Milford and graduated from Milford High School with the class of 1945. Following her graduation Lillian worked as a surgical nurse aide at Lincoln General Hospital and also worked at Hovland-Swanson Department Store in Lincoln. On January 2, 1947, she was united in marriage to Ben Eicher at her parent's home. Their marriage was blessed with four children, Becky (Kremer), Warren, Tami (Wergin) and James.
They moved into a farm house northwest of Milford where Lillian was a busy helpmate and homemaker raising her children. Lillian was an accomplished seamstress and made most of the clothing for her children, quilted, and raised a large garden. She was a resident of Seward County her entire life until January of 2015 when she moved to Eastmont Towers in Lincoln.
Ben passed away on April 20, 1991. In September of 1992, Lillian was blessed with a second marriage to Lawrence Beckler, adding his children and grandchildren to her family.
She was a life-long member of the Mennonite faith, and served her churches faithfully. Lillian served as a member of various committees, sang in several trio groups, and worked faithfully to see her churches succeed. Lillian was a member of quilting groups in Sun City, AZ and Seward, making quilts for all her family members for their special occasions of graduations, new babies and marriages. She also spent many hours working and helping at the Et-Cetera Store in Seward, serving as co-manager for several years. In her spare time Lillian enjoyed traveling. Her family was very precious to her and she was always interested in their activities. Friends and their activities were important to Lillian, as well. She had a very caring personality and everyone she met was a friend. In her spare time Lillian enjoyed a variety of hobbies, including the daily crossword puzzles, water aerobics, bowling, playing golf and traveling. Lillian kept a record of her life, writing daily in her journals. As her health began to fail, one of her goals was attending the wedding of her granddaughter, Ashley in July.
