In Loving Memory OfM. Louise BergmanM. Louise Bergman, of Friend, died Monday, May 24, 2004, at the Friend Manor in Friend at the age of 78 years 4 months and 2 days. She was born January 22, 1926 at Moline, Illinois to August and Edith (Sanders) Mahlstedt. During her youth, Louise attended and was confirmed at the Augustana Lutheran Church. After graduating from Orion High School with the class of 1945, she studied for a time to be a Deaconess in the church. As a young girl, Peter and Selma Benzon were loved as foster parents. She later moved to Omaha, Nebraska where she met the love of her life and was united in marriage to Leroy John Bergman on June 19, 1954 at Omaha, Nebraska and they were looking forward to celebrating their 50th anniversary next month. To this union two sons, Douglas and Allan were born. Together they made there home in Omaha for many years where Louise worked in the food service at Clarkson and Immanuel Hospitals and also at the Omaha Public Schools. After retiring, they moved to the Friend area and lived at Friendship Terrace until poor health required that they move to the Friend Manor. In Friend, Louise attended the Friend Christian Assembly.She is survived by her husband, Leroy Bergman, Friend, her sons and daughters-in-law, Doug and Yuliya Bergman, Friend, Allan and Maria Bergman, Omaha, seven grandchildren, Lina, Gladis, Walter, Carlos, Juan, Jason and Orlando, special friends, Carl and Mary Anne Lovedahl, Lynn Center, IL.A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 27, 2004, at Lauber-Moore Funeral Home, with Rev. Jerry Lewin officiating. Graveside service at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, 5/27/04, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Omaha. Visitation is from 9-9 Wednesday and until service time on Thursday at the funeral home. Carolyn Eigsti played the organ and accompanied Sue Eigsti, soloist, as she sang "In The Garden". Robert Norris served as pallbearer, along with other family friends.
