Margaret M. Markel

Margaret Marie Markel was born Feb. 10, 1927, in Lincoln, Nebraska to Christian and Henrietta (Helter) Gerlach, the 4th of 10 children and passed away Sunday, October 31, 2010, at her home in Pleasant Dale at the age of 83 years, 8 months and 21 days. As a young girl, Margaret attended Belmont Elementary School and later went to Lincoln High School. She was employed at Elgin Watch Factory and later was a 25 year employee at Dorsey's Pharmaceutical Company, both of Lincoln. She was united in marriage to Arthur Markel and together helped Art run the bait shop in Emerald. Survivors include her husband, Art, Pleasant Dale, sister and brother-in-law, Amelia and Rienhardt Borchers, a brother, Donald Borchers, all of Lincoln, Rueben and Iona Borchers, Lincoln, Herman Borchers, Seward, brother-in-law, Dale Markel, Lincoln, nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives, neighbors and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Lena Burbach, brothers, Henry and Chris Gerlach and infant twins. Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, Nov. 5, 2010 at Pleasant Dale Cemetery, Pleasant Dale, Nebraska. Visitation is Friday from 9:00 am to noon at Lauber-Moore Funeral Home, Milford. Memorials may be directed in care of the family. Lauber-Moore Funeral Home, Milford, is entrusted with the care and arrangements.
