In Loving Memory Of
Maxine B. Mullin

A Graveside Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 12, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Friend, Nebraska with Fr. David Bourek officiating.

Maxine B. Mullin was born October 1, 1925 in Elgin, Kansas and passed away on April 26, 2014 at the Terracina Grand in Naples, Florida. After receiving her high school diploma in 1944, Maxine worked for an attorney in Pawhuska, OK, but eventually moved to the Washington D.C. area. There she worked as a stenographer at the Pentagon for the Department of the Army. Subsequently she obtained a position as an assistant clerk working for the permanent subcommittee on investigations in the US Senate from November 19, 1953 to October 15, 1954, under Senators Karl E. Mundt of South Dakota and Joseph R. McCarthy of Wisconsin. She continued working as a secretary for various Senators and committees. In 1963 or 1964, she began working as a secretary for Senator Peter H. Dominick of Colorado and worked her way up to be the Senator's Personal Secretary, remaining in that position until 1975 when he lost his bid for re-election. The Senator was named as an Ambassador to Switzerland by President Ford and Maxine traveled with him to Switzerland as his personal secretary, but only briefly, because of the Ambassador's serious illness. She and her husband, Phillip, retired to Naples, Florida where she resided until her death.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Barry J. and Vel R. Hyde, Johnson City, TN, grandchildren and spouses, Lisa Frances and Michael Schlaikjer, Park City, UT and Laura Katherine and Timothy Stevens, Bristol, VA, great-grandchildren, Juliana Victoria Stevens and Abigail Paige Stevens, both of Bristol Virginia.

She was preceded in death by her husband Phillip in 2013.
