Nelda (Yoder) Vogt Obituary (1937

In Loving Memory OfNelda M. Vogt Nelda M. (Yoder) Vogt was born October 10, 1937, in Milford, Nebraska the twin daughter and oldest of six children born to Leland & Lesley (West) Stutzman, and died Tuesday, September 11, 2007, at her home of cancer at the age of 69 years, 11 months and 1 day. Nelda attended Dorchester school and later became a 1955 graduate of Lincoln High School. After her schooling, Nelda was employed with Bankers Life of Iowa in Lincoln. Nelda and her twin sister married brothers in November of 1955 at Trinity Methodist Church in Lincoln. Two children, Madge and Shane, were born to the union of Nelda and Wallace. In 1957, Nelda and Wallace Yoder began farming west of Milford and in 1959, her twin sister, Elda and husband Elwood joined them and together formed Yoder Brothers Farming. Nelda and Wallace farmed until Wallace's death in 1973. In 1974, Nelda opened the Skelly Restaurant at the Milford Interchange and owned the restaurant for 16 years. Then, in 1977, Nelda was united in marriage to Lonnie Vogt in Lincoln. Together they owned Lonnie and Nelda Trucking. She also worked at Bishop's Buffet and Stauffers Caf? & Pie Shoppe, both of Lincoln. Nelda was baptized in her youth at the Dorchester United Methodist Church and joined the Bellwood Mennonite Church in 1957. While at Bellwood, Nelda served her church in many capacities, such as Sunday school and Bible School teacher. Nelda was dedicated to her grandchildren who meant everything to her. She also was an avid reader and enjoyed sharing the road with Lonnie over the years. She always had a positive outlook in life and will be remembered by her constant smile. Nelda is survived by her husband, Lonnie, Milford, daughter and son-in-law, Madge and Timothy Heyen, Hendersonville, TN; son and daughter-in-law, Shane and Deb Yoder, Strausburg, CO, step-sons, Mike Vogt, Kearney, Greg and Alisa Vogt, Danville, KY; grandchildren, Eric and Beth Heyen, Seward, Jaclyn Heyen, Miami, FL, Beau Heyen, Dallas, TX, Shelby Yoder, Strausburg, CO, step-grandchildren, Ben, Kearney, Bailey, Elkhorn, Nikki, St. Robert, MO, Erica and Kyle Vogt of Post Falls, ID, sisters and brothers-in-law, Brenda and Andrew Minicz. Lake Bluff, IL and Joan Boyd, Lakewood, CO, brothers and sister-in-law, Larry and Rigmor Stutzman, Devine, TX, Jim Stutzman, Lincoln, sisters-in-law and spouses, Janet and Frank Rogers, Minden, Patricia and Tom Sullivan, Carthage, TX, Elaine Roth, Elkhorn, Wilma and Milton Roth, Milford, Joyce and Charles Sears, Longmont, CO, Ruth Yoder, Seward, Beverly and Richard Whittecar, Fort Collins, CO, brothers-in-law and spouses, Bob and Karen Vogt, Kearney, Donnie and Ramona Vogt, Minden, Elwood Yoder, Lincoln, Norman and Sylvia Yoder, Lincoln, Jerry and Micalene Rapp, Rogers, AR, aunts, nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Wallace Yoder in 1973, step-daughter, Vicki Jo Vogt in 1973; twin sister, Elda Yoder in 2006, brothers-in-law, Wilfred Yoder, Lawrence Yoder, Orie Roth, sister-in-law, Belva Rapp, parents-in-law, Vernon and Phoebe Yoder, Clarence and Cleo Vogt. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 15, 2007, at Beth-El Mennonite Church, Milford, with Rev. Audrun Siebert officiating. Eric Heyen talked about "Learning From Grandma". Burial prior to services at Dorchester Cemetery at 10:00 am. Visitation is only on Friday from 10:00 am to 9:00 p.m. at Lauber-Moore Funeral Home, Milford with family receiving friends 7-9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed in care of the family. Sue Roth, pianist, accompanied, Beau Heyen as he sang "Homesick" and Jaclyn Heyen as she sang "He Touched Me". At the graveside, Jaclyn Heyen played the guitar and they sang "How Great Thou Art" and "Amazing Grace". Pallbearers were Rick, Randy, Doug and Ryan Yoder, Rex and Gene Roth. Honorary Pallbearers were Jim and Larry Stutzman, Elwood and Norman Yoder, Larry Shade, Gary Runge, Milton Roth, Frank Rogers, Gary Benson, Andrew Minitz, Charles Sears, Tom Sullivan, Bob and Donnie Vogt.
