Olive B. Anderson Obituary (1912

In Memory OfOlive B. Anderson Olive B. Anderson, of Friend, was born in Loretto, Nebraska on June 10, 1912 to Alvin C. and Rebecca A (McCartney) Holmes, the youngest of six children and died on Saturday, April 5, 2008, at the Exeter Care Center in Exeter, Nebraska at the age of 95 years, 9 months and 26 days. As a young girl, Olive attended Kennard Public School and graduated with the Class of 1929. She furthered her education by attending Midland College for one year. Olive moved with her family to Beaver Crossing where she met and later was united in marriage on August 28, 1935, to Edward M. Anderson in Friend and to this union three sons, Duane, Donald and Michael were born. Together they made their home on a farm north of Friend where she was a busy homemaker, mother and farm helper to Edward. She also worked for 20 years as a seamstress at Formfit in Crete. Their home was a family gathering place and she enjoyed hosting these gatherings. In 1974, they retired and moved into Friend. In her spare time she enjoyed reading and keeping up with current events. Olive had a very strong faith and as an active member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and was one of the organizers of the current Altar Society. Olive liked to sing and sang for many weddings and funerals. Olive is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Duane and Joanne Anderson, Sequim, WA, Donald Anderson and fianc?, Pat Miller, Friend, Michael and Marilyn Anderson, Exeter, nine grandchildren, Scott and Taiya Anderson, Pasco, WA, Craig and Lainie Anderson, Albury, Australia, Rebecca and Michael Preston, Salem, OR, Pam and John Waldman, Hickman, Paul and Lisa Anderson, Ravenna, Jason and Nicole Anderson, Norfolk, Sarah and David Graff, Lincoln, Mark and Wendi Anderson, Lincoln, David Anderson, Battle Creek, MI, fourteen great-grandchildren, Sarah and Jessica Anderson, Gus, Anderson, Amanda, Cody, and Krista Waldman, Nicole, Theison, Hailey, and Treydan Anderson, Brenna, Kiley, and Haidyn Anderson, and Zachary Graff, several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Edward in 1987, sisters, Blossum Striggow and Gladys "Beryle" Anderson, brothers, Bryan, Bernard and Rolland Holmes, and daughter-in-law, Beth Anderson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a. m. on Wednesday, April 9, 2008, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Friend with Fr. David Bourek officiating. A Rosary will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 8, 2008, at Lauber-Moore Funeral Home, Friend. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation is 9-9 on Tuesday at Funeral Home, Friend and one hour prior to service at the church. Memorials have been established and are directed in care of the family. Pallbearers are, John Waldman, David Graff, Paul, Jason, Mark and David Anderson. Arrangements have been entrusted to Lauber-Moore Funeral Home, Friend.
