Dorchester, Nebraska
With profound sadness and unwavering hope in God's promises, we celebrate the life of Rod Schweitzer who entered the presence of the Lord on August 4, 2026.
Rod was born on July 8, 1961 in Friend, Nebraska to Wilton & Arvilla Schweitzer. He was the youngest brother of Marilyn and Larry. His love of farming began in childhood on the family farm, where he watched his parents work the land and discovered his passion of caring for animals and farming the land. In his teenage years, he made the greatest decision of his life in choosing Jesus to be his Savior. His second greatest decision was asking Jana on a date. From the beginning, he knew she was the one. Their love grew into a marriage that lasted 45 years and became the cornerstone of his life. He was a devoted husband who loved Jana faithfully, honoring the vows they made to each other through every joy and challenge. Together they raised three sons, Rance, Toby and Dolen creating a home grounded in faith, love, hard work, and unwavering support for one another.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Jana; his sons, Rance (Asha), Toby (Wendy), and Dolen (Kati); his cherished grandchildren, Noah, Eli, Torin, Winston, Priya, Everett, Silas, Fynn, Elsi, and Ivy; his sister, Marilyn (Nathan); his brother, Larry (Vickie); along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, dear friends, and neighbors who will miss him greatly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilton and Arvilla; his parents-in-law, Ferman and Lois Riley; grandson, Gabriel; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bill and Linda Riley; his brother-in-law, Rod Yoder; his sister-in-law, Charlotte Riley; and his nieces, Angie Stutzman and Savana Riley.
While his family mourns his passing, they also rejoice in the assurance of eternal life through Jesus Christ. They find comfort in knowing that he has been welcomed into the presence of the Lord he faithfully loved and served throughout his life.
