CREMATION WITH INTEGRITY
In recent years, we’ve seen more individuals choose cremation over burial. We’ve also seen a rise in low-cost cremation providers which cut corners and hit families with hidden costs. TOUR OUR ON-SITE CREMATORY
At Lauber Funeral and Cremation Services, we personally own and operate our on-site crematory, called, BLUE VALLEY CREMATORY. This means that your loved one never leaves our trusted care. Most importantly, our certified trained professionals handle every step of the cremation process with dignity and respect. We invite all interested family and community members to tour our crematory facility located at our Milford Funeral Home. We strictly adhere to a cremation code of ethics, an assurance to you of our commitment to dignity and honesty. We walk with you through the process and answer any questions you may have. Losing a loved one is difficult, we want you to be prepared for what you will encounter.
IDENTIFICATION OF THE DECEASED
-Recognizing that the process is irreversible, it is in the best interests of the survivors and the crematory to ensure the correct identity of the deceased person before the cremation process takes place. In cases where the decedent is not viewed with a visitation or funeral, or when no family is present at the place of death, an identification of the unembalmed body can be provided at our funeral home and must (by law) be for a very short time only. The identification may be done by anyone who represents their ability to do so.
-Prior to identification, the mouth and eyes of the deceased person are closed by generally accepted methods of mortuary science (for aesthetic purposes). A disinfectant of the face and other areas of the body is applied as deemed necessary by the mortician.
THE CREMATION PROCESS
-One deceased at a time will be cremated during the cremation process in a rigid or semi-rigid leak resistant container.
-Our unique pre-cremation check list and protocols ensure ethical and legal standards.
-The cremated remains, consisting of bone fragments, will be diligently removed from the cremation chamber and processed into small fragments. Because cremation chambers are lined with porous material, it is not always possible to remove small traces of the cremated remains.
-The cremated remains will be placed in suitable container, such as an urn or other receptacle. Ultimately, final disposition of the cremated remains will occur, such as burial, retainment or scattering.
